Moose Jaw Police Service

Police calls

Between 7 a.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday, the Moose Jaw Police Service responded to 44 calls for service, including two assist other government agency calls, four alarms, two parking bylaws, one curfew check, one warrant executed and one AGRA.

Just before 9 a.m. on Friday there was a two-vehicle accident on the 900 block of Lillooet Street West. One person was charged with driving without due care and attention and driving without a license. There is $1,000 damage.

There were two hit and runs in that time period. At 2 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a hit and run on the 500 block of Home Street West. It was done between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. There is an estimated $2,500 in damage.

At 6 a.m. there was another hit and run on the zero block of Iris Drive where the suspect vehicle hit a parked car. There is $10,000 damage. The suspect vehicle was located and charges are pending.

At 11:27 a.m., Friday a man was big by a dog on the 1100 block of Hochelaga Street West. It is still under investigation.

Police charged a man with shoplifting and breaching his court order on the zero block of Thatcher Drive East at 3:05 p.m. He was released on an appearance notice with a later court date.

Police dealt with an intoxicate man, who was taken home and left in the care of his mother. After a call about a bike theft, the bike was located and returned to the owner.

Police warned two men about the noise bylaw for two different noisy parties. Police also located two men who were warned for mischief.

A man was charged with having liquor in a public place on the 1100 block of Grafton Avenue. Another man was charged with breaching a court order. He was detained in cells until sober.

There was one matter of mischief where a bottle was thrown at a window of a residence at 4:46 a.m. It is still under investigation.

Fire calls

The Moose Jaw Fire Department responded to two calls between 7 a.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday.  The first was at 7:42 p.m. for a carbon monoxide alarm activated on the 1100 block of Fifth Avenue Northwest.

Engines responded to a rubbish fire on the 1200 block of Carleton Street at 9:55 p.m.
