"SIAST received a letter via the mail service that contained some threats toward the school," Sgt. Cliff Froehlich told the Times-Herald Monday. "They contacted the police and we went up and examined the letter.
"We did some investigating into the author and where the letter may have been sent from, obtained some information from that investigation, and based on that information we left it up to SIAST to decide if they wanted to continue with response to the letter," he added.
According to a release, SIAST "evacuated the campus … as a safety measure," and "activated its incident response team to deal with the situation."
The campus was swept and found to be safe. It was scheduled to reopen today.
A SIAST spokesperson said he could not expand upon what was contained in the release.
"Because of the ongoing police investigation, we can't say any more," he said.
