However, Ken Parsons told the Times-Herald his goal isn’t to sing for council, but rather to serve on council. “If nothing else, I’d like to spark growth and interest in the community,” Parsons said, adding he intends to file nomination papers at city hall later this week, making him a councillor candidate. He decided to run for the position a couple years ago. The Bombardier database administrator said the city needs to improve local infrastructure and make Moose Jaw more attractive, thus attracting more people to live and work in the Friendly City.

I have been reading over some of the constructive comments on the other members' links and I can see that Moose Javians are very concerned about the direction this council is heading. Whether I am elected or not, this council must be made aware that the citizens of this wonderful city will not stand for more of the same grandstanding as displayed in previous councils. Wee need to have a council that will work together as a team to get things done. We need a plan for improvements and repairs to our streets, sewers and sidewalks that makes fiscal sense in a reasonable timeframe. Improvements need to be made in accessibility, availability and appearance of all city managed properties, and city bylaws need to both make sense, and be enforced. How will we pay for new projects and compressed timelines for upgrades and repairs? We need to grow our economic base by attracting new business and employers to our city. This will need to be followed through by encouraging skilled people to move to the city to fill those employers requirements. We will need to prioritize the repairs and upgrades so that the new additions to our city remain. This goes to the need to have this council make more effort to get the provincial government to follow through with their promises and projects like the hospital. We can take a page from Tourism Moose Jaw when it comes to promoting our city. They have made Moose Jaw a tourism hot spot and the same thing can be done to help make our city an employment hot spot. Affordable Housing and quality of life are very important realities. We need a plan in place that encourages property owners and affordable housing projects to develop and provide the housing we need. Moose Jaw Housing Authority mandates need to be reviewed and aligned with a new train of thought that makes housing available to those in need. I do look forward to your support on the 28th, and if you have any questions, please feel free to email me at ken.parsons.mj@gmail.com, and check out my site at www.kenparsons.webs.com Thank you, and have a safe day.
