After spending almost his entire life in the Friendly City, Maslasz told the Times-Herald the local population hasn’t grown much in his 48 years of life and he would like to enter local politics to help local businesses prosper, as well as attract new businesses and residents to Moose Jaw.
Maslasz said Moose Jaw should consider encouraging “green” industry, exploring local manufacturing possibilities that take advantage of alternative energy sources possibly available in southern Saskatchewan (i.e., solar power and geothermal power).
“I think it’s an awesome community." - Scott Maslasz
He added the city should also set up a board specifically tasked with marketing Moose Jaw around Saskatchewan and outside the province.
Although he sees growth as a benefit for the city, Maslasz said he really enjoys the community in which he was born and raised.
“I think it’s an awesome community,” he said, adding Moose Jaw has a “safe and relaxed small-town atmosphere.”
Also handing in nomination papers on Monday were Wendy Getchell and incumbent candidate Coun. Brian Swanson.
