“I still think I have something to contribute,” he told the Times-Herald on Tuesday, one day after filing nomination papers at city hall.
The 52-year-old incumbent candidate said he believes in good public policy and refusing “capitulation to private interest.”
Among the issues for which the four-term councillor would advocate over the next three years (if re-elected), Swanson, who worked with the hospital for many years, said he would continue to advocate for major improvements at Moose Jaw Union Hospital, which haven’t occurred in almost 40 years.

He noted the amount of government money planned to repair and expand the current facility is less than the smaller community of Humbolt received to build a new facility.
