“People have a lot of good ideas, we just have to listen to them.”
Stan Koch said communicating with Moose Javians is an important part of his election campaign and he would maintain that practice if elected to city hall.
On Tuesday, the mayoral candidate discussed his campaign platform with the Times-Herald. He said residents have some great ideas as to how the city might tackle various issues.
For example, someone spoke with Koch recently about the idea of co-op apartments to possibly help deal with the issue of affordable housing, which is something he intends to look into developing if elected.

Koch said the city must also advocate for social housing funding from different levels of government, as well as educate local landlords and tenants about the sort of affordable-housing options already available through the province.
For example, he said there are provincial social service programs that provide landlords with rebates if they offer apartment suites at lower rates for poorer tenants.
