While the folks in Vancouver have been forced to listen to verbal assaults about the various glitches that have befallen the Winter Olympics, there hasn’t been many problems raised about the Saskatchewan Winter Games taking place in Moose Jaw right now.
One of the problems that has faced organizers is the fact that they have needed to print more tickets because ticket sales have been better than expected, according to Games manager Ted Schaeffer.
The fact more people than anticipated have come out to watch these young athletes from across the province is impressive on its own. However, the fact ticket sales have done well even though the 2010 Winter Olympics — the first in Canada in 22 years — is taking place at the same time, makes the success even more remarkable.
It would be very easy for people to sit back and flip through the numerous TV channels featuring the Olympics, but instead many have come out to cheer on the athletes and others have donned blue shirts to help the events as volunteers. And that is a success itself.
