Remembering those who fight for their country is our duty and the role of future generations.
Keeping their memory alive is something which is carried out in many ways — most notably on Remembrance Day in November.
But there are many ways which people work to pay their respects.
Restoring Moose Jaw's war memorial outside Peacock Collegiate is a very worthwhile cause.
While the people of Moose Jaw miss seeing the figures standing nobly to attention each day, we know they are in good hands.
Repairing them for future generations to remember the past is vitally important.
It's wonderful that one person in our community is willing to stand up and take on this responsibility to stop the rust, wear and tear continuing to attack and destroy the memorial.
With help from SIAST and other organizations, the work will soon be done and should make it strong for another 200 years.
A rededication ceremony is planned for the memorial later in the year.
It will be a chance for the community to come together and remember those who lost their lives and make sure their memories are honoured today and in the future.
