One of the great blue liners and the Blue Jays greatest manager will highlight the speakers for this year’s K+S Potash Kinsmen Celebrity Sports Banquet which will be held Feb. 4 at the Heritage Inn.

Hall of Fame hockey player Ray Bourque and former Toronto Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston will be the featured speakers for the event. The emcee will be Rod Black from CTV and TSN.

“He also work with Foster Parents Plan (of Canada) which is a huge thing for us,” said Kelvin Bradford, chairperson of the event. “He volunteers for the organization and volunteering for kids is a huge part of what the Kinsmen are all about.”

The banquet features silent and live auction items. The funds raised go to Kinsmen projects and sponsored groups around the community.

“After 20 years of doing this, things like the Moose Jaw Flying Fins, the Kinsmen Sportsplex . . . the Moose Jaw Kinsmen Football League — so many of these things couldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the people in the community who help us raise money for this. Raising money for those programs are the things that make us excited as Kinsmen and as volunteers”

Cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m. and supper will be served at 6:30 p.m.

K+S Potash is new this year as a presenting sponsor for the 20th Kinsmen banquet.

Tickets are $150 each or a corporate table of eight is $1,200.
