The Hometown Fair got kicked off with the annual parade on Thursday evening with all the festivities happening Friday morning.

The Fair is once again hosting the Canadian Cowboy Association (CCA) Championship Rodeo at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Company throughout the weekend.

“Our members are anticipating a fiercely competitive event in Moose Jaw, which has attracted a host of stand-out local talents and competitors from all over,” stated Mark Bencze, general manager of the CCA in a press release.

This three-day event begins on Friday evening at 6 p.m. in the Gomersall Arena with some saddle bronc, bull riding, ladies barrel racing, tie down roping, novice bareback and team roping events. The rodeo fun continues on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. with more saddle bronc, bareback, bull riding, tie down roping, steer wrestling, ladies barrel racing, team roping and novice bareback. Sunday wraps up the rodeo beginning at 1 p.m. The announcer for the weekend is 2012 Cowboy of the Year, Kelly Brice.

“We are looking forward to this three-day rodeo event because it offers high-qualify competition and the organizers always put on an outstanding event,” said Bencze.

There will be many Moose Jaw competitors in the various events as well as others from the surrounding areas. There is no extra cost for the rodeo once on the fairgrounds.
