It was a good Benson battle at the Lynbrook Golf and Country Club’s annual Labour Day tournament.
Craig Benson won the men’s Labour Day Classic by finishing two strokes better than his son Trevor Benson.
Craig shot a 74 to win the men’s tournament.
The ladies Labour Day Championship was a won by Heather Pearson with a score of 93. That was enough to edge out Cherolyn Bailey who came in second with a score of 94.
Adele Owatz won the ladies first flight after she shot a 99 and she beat out Blanche Kruse who came in with a 105.
Chris Hibbin won the men’s first flight. He finished tied with Jim Swaok after they both shot an 82, but Hibbin via retrogression.
Bob Turnbull shot an 85 to win the second flight. That was good enough to beat Joe Klein’s round of 87.
The men’s third flight was won via retrogression as Garry Ross beat Stan Vantassel after they both finished with a 94.
The winner of closest to the pin for the ladies was Deborah Larson on the fifth hole. The men’s closest to the pin was won by Ken Jattensingh on the seventh hole.
