All Clippers teams in action over weekend

All Briercrest Clippers teams were in action over the weekend and had some mixed results.

In women’s basketball, the Clippers were on the road at Keyano College and dropped a close 54-39 contest. Tracy Frimpong led the way for the Clippers with 14 points and Claire Richardson had 13 points. On Saturday, Concordia defeated the Clippers 70-43. Frimpong scored 10 points, Hannah Klassen and Karly Goertzen each chipped in seven points in the loss.

The Clippers will host NAIT and Grant MacEwan University this weekend in Caronport at the Reimer Gym. 

In men’s basketball, the Clippers opened their weekend with a 94-78 win over Keyano College. Gradyn Childerhose continued his strong start with 23 points to lead the Clippers and James Wohlgeschaffen added 20 points.

Om Saturday, the Clippers were dealt a 95-77 loss from Concordia. The Clippers only had seven players in this game and Childerhose led the team with 21 points and Matt Myers chipped in 16 points.

The Clippers will host NAIT and Grant MacEwan University this weekend.

In women’s volleyball action, the Clippers won in three straight sets, 25-15, 25-18 and 25-16 over Augustana Faculty (U of A). Mikayla Reinhardt led the way with 12 kills and Starlet Peterson had eight kills.

On Saturday, Augustana Faculty battled back for a 3-2 set win. U of A won the opening set 26-24 and the second set 25-23. The Clippers won the third set 25-22 and the fourth set 25-21, but the U of A held on for the 19-17 final set win. Reinhardt and Peterson led the way with 12 and 11 kills, respectively.

The Clippers will be on the road this weekend with stops at NAIT.

In men’s volleyball, the Clippers won both of their matches against Augustana Faculty on the weekend. On Friday, the Clippers won the opening match 25-15, but dropped the next set 25-18. They came back to win 25-15 and 25-19 in the next two sets. Kyle Pankratz led the way for the Clippers with 19 kills.

On Saturday, the U of A won the opening set 25-23, but then the Clippers won the next three sets — 25-21, 25-19 and 25-13 for the win. Steve Guenther led the way with 10 kills.

In men’s hockey, the Clippers had a rough weekend at Concordia. On Friday, they dropped a 5-1 match and on Saturday, they were shut out 7-0.

The Clippers will host Augustana Faculty this weekend at the Barkman Arena in Caronport.
