With a record a 13-1 and an eight game winning streak, the Briercrest Clippers men’s basketball team is the top ranked team in the nation.

After earning a weekend sweep over SAIT and a Sheridan Bruins loss in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association, the Clippers teams sits a top the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association rankings.

Briercrest has been led by a strong veteran core this season, which includes Gradyn Childerhose who is currently ranked second in the CCAA for points per game, James Wohlegeschaffen and Kendell Boese who are ranked one and two in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) in steals per game, and Matt Myers who is tied for second in the ACAC in assists per game.

The team is very balanced and unselfish which is highlighted by the fact that the fourth and fifth ranked players in the ACAC for assists are Caleb Klassen and Boese.

"I’m thankful for the men on our team and for the recognition of being ranked number one in the CCAA," said Clippers coach Rod Adrian. "There are some great leaders on our team and a brotherhood that is unmatched.”

The Clippers will face Red Deer College this weekend that sit in second place in the ACAC with a 12-2 record.

Also moving up the ranks is the men’s volleyball team. They sat in 11th place last week and after earning a split with SAIT over the weekend, they sit in sixth place this week.

The Clippers have a 12-2 record and will face a stiff challenge this weekend when they travel to Red Deer College, who are ranked first in ACAC standings and third in the nation.
