The Toilers beat Prince Albert St. Mary 69-46 to win their SHSAA 4A girls regional at home Saturday.
The Toilers out-scored St. Mary 29-11 in the second quarter, otherwise the game was nearly even. They led 12-9 after the first quarter and only out-scored St. Mary by two points in the second half.
"You come up with the win and that's obviously the most important thing," said Peacock head coach Renee Verge. "Certainly we weren't as sharp was we wanted to be. Everything was a little bit off. Our passing was a little off. Our defence struggled a bit. But you have to focus on the positives — we got the win, we're going to Hoopla and there's a whole pile of teams that would trade us spots."
Libby Epoch scored 27 points — 15 of those coming in the second quarter — while Macaela Crone added 15 points for the Toilers.
Meghan McFee led the Marauders with 13 points.
The Toilers will need to be sharp against Caronport in Tuesday's city final (6:15 p.m., SIAST Palliser) before they meet Lumsden Friday in the provincial semifinal.
"We're very thankful that we have the league final on Tuesday, so we can sharpen up a few things in an intense atmosphere. It should be very, very good for us," said Verge.
In 3A girls action the Caronport Cougars rolled to Hoopla with a 97-33 win over Prince Albert RIvier to win their regional at home.
The news wasn't as good for Assiniboia who lost their regional final 51-48 to the fifth seed from Kamsack. Amy Cook scored 11 points for Assiniboia, while Kaitlyn Placatka scored 15 for Kamsack.
Caronport will face Clavet in the Hoopla semifinal. Indian Head faces Kamsack in the other 3A semifinal.
Middle Lake beat Herbert 64-33 in a 1A girls regional final in Middle Lake. In the consolation side of the 1A draw, Bengough beat Central Butte 49-39.
