The Colts lost their 1A boys semifinal 77-65 to Fillmore at the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association's provincial basketball championships in Regina.
With 6:45 remaining in the third quarter the Colts had two starters — Riley Grona and Alex Bertholet — sitting with four fouls. Fillmore's Chris Paslawski soon joined them. Ultimately none of them fouled out.
Fillmore was led by guards Barrett Kosior and Chris Paslawski who had 23 and 21 points respectively. Their six-foot-nine post Winston Van Staveren caused the Colts lots of problems in the paint and added 20 points of his own.
Brandon Thurlow led the Colts with 28 points, while Grona added 10 more.
The Colts will play for bonze medals Saturday (11 a.m., F.W. Johnson).
More to come.
