Women's fastball season is in full swing in Moose Jaw.
Thursday, the Park Hotel Colts beat the Hustlers 3-1 after the Heat beat the Slammers 13-2 on Tuesday night as the Moose Jaw Senior Women's Fastball League's season got underway.
Colts 3 Hustlers 1
The Colts jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead as Sandy Gray singled home a run in the first inning and Jasmine Jackman hit a two-run single in the second inning.
Jannell Acott hit a solo home run for the Hustlers in the sixth inning to get them on board.
Gray earned the win as she only allowed two hits over five innings. Kim Neithercut surrendered one hit in two innings of relief.
Deleigh Lacelle hit a double and scored a run for the Colts was also drawing a pair of walks. Mel Hopkinson also scored a run. Jackman was 2-for-3 at the plate and Nicole Whitehead was 2-for-4 for the Colts.
Heat 13 Slammers 2
The Heat strung together eight singles in the fourth inning which produced nine runs. That big inning was more than enough to earn them a win against the Slammers.
Amanda Muhlig singled twice in that fourth inning for the Heat. The lead-off hitter finished 3-for-3 with three runs and a walk.
Megan Binner got the scoring started with a two-run single in the first inning. She drove in three runs and had a pair of hits. Callie Heinbigner and Kristen Gommersal each singled and scored twice in the win.
Kayla Bugg had a pair of hits for the Slammers. Penny Barker had a double, but the Slammers only managed four hits over the five innings of the game. They left 10 runners on base and left the bases loaded twice which could have changed the complexion of the game.
