The Moose Jaw Miller Express left Melville with two wins Thursday.
They see no reason why they can’t do the same after Saturday night.
The Express travel to face the Millionaires full of confidence ahead of Game 1 of their best-of-five Western Major Baseball League Eastern semifinal series tonight
“To do what we did (Wednesday) against the team we’re going to face in the playoffs does bring a lot of confidence to the table,” said Express head coach Michael Hunt. “What they do with that confidence will dictate the pace and the condition of the game.”
The Express (19-23) closed the regular season with two wins over the Mills (25-17). The teams split their four-game season series with the road team winning each time. That fact, coupled with the Express’ 13-8 road record, has the Express feeling good about their chances to open the series.
“Usually it’s the other way around — you’re supposed to be good at home and try to be at least .500 on the road,” said Hunt. “We’re the opposite. We’re below .500 at home and way over .500 on the road.
“I don’t think we feel like underdogs. I certainly don’t feel like we’re underdogs.”
Mike Rahrich (5-2) will get the start for the Express in Game 1. The Mills are expected to counter with Derek Howell (4-3).
Rahrich has won his last four starts and won the last two with complete games.
