The Moose Jaw Miller Express will be heading to the second round of the WMBL playoffs for the first time since 2002 after sweeping the Melville Millionaires in a best of five series.
The Express completed the sweep with an 11-2 win over the Mils Sunday at Ross Wells Park, with a complete game performance from Marshall Dean.
Dean did not surrender a run until the sixth inning of the game, which ended his 16 1/3 inning scoreless streak, dating back to July 17.
Once again, defence played a big part in the game as the Mils committed five errors compared to one by the Express.
The Express scored three runs in the second and four in the fourth to take a commanding 7-0 lead. Left fielder Fred Atkins crushed a grand slam in the seventh for good measure.
