Pitching has been a big key for the Moose Jaw Miller Express in their playoff push, as the Express got another deep outing from one of their starters, Arturo Maltos-Garcia in a 8-5 win over the Regina Red Sox, evening the WMBL East Final playoff series at 1-1.
Maltos-Garcia, who was named the winning pitcher, struck out nine Red Sox in eight innings of play.
“Anytime your starter goes seven or eight innings deep, he’s giving your team a chance to win,” said Maltos-Garcia. “That’s what I’m doing, five runs I gave up, I wish it could be lower but I mean, still, I gave us a chance to win and our bats hit today.”
Express reliever Terry McNabb put an exclamation point on the game, getting the save in a two strike out, one hit final inning.
The Red Sox romped the Express in Regina Thursday 12-2 and it was still fresh in the minds of the Express who had something to prove at home Friday.
