The Moose Jaw Devons saw their three-game league win streak snapped Thursday when they lost 9-4 to the Swift Current Indians.
The Devons will return to Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League action Monday when they travel to face the Regina Mets.
The game was much closer than the score indicated. The Devons lead 3-2 in the third inning. The Indians led 5-4 when they broke the game open in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Josh Siemens and Reid Fritzke hit lead-off singles for the Indians in the sixth before Zac Mackay hit a double to give the Indians all of the insurance they would need.
Mackay threw six innings and allowed nine hits, but struck out seven batters for the Indians.
Payton Hillsdon had a good start for the Devons. He took the loss, but allowed four earned runs and six hits over 4 1/3 innings work. He did walk six batter and reliever Zack Shelstad walked two more as the free passes came back to haunt the Devons.
Austin Grywacheski led the Devons at the plate with a 3-for-4 day with two runs and an RBI. Hillsdon, Shelstad and Liam MacDougall also drove in runs for the Devons.
