Acosta outstanding in 10-3 win
One big inning form the offence and seven strong ones from Brandon Acosta were all Moose Jaw needed.
Moose Jaw Miller Express
Acosta was fantastic on the mound for the Moose Jaw Miller Express who scored eight runs in the third inning to beat the Melville Millionaires 10-3 in the first game of a Western Major Baseball League double-header at Ross Wells Park.
Acosta retired the first 11 batters he faced before Bennett Oliver singled and Tres Tuler followed up with a two-run home run.
By that point the Express already led 8-0 after they strung together five singles and a two-run home run by Derek Cornell. An error by Melvile proved costly as it prolonged the big inning — six of the Express' runs were unearned.
Austin Russell was 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Danny Lokesak drove in a pair of runs and Dylan Hanson and Drew Danzeisen both had two hits and two runs.
Acosta allowed two earned runs and gave up five hits over seven innings. He also struck out seven batters and improved his record to 5-2 on the season.
The Express and Melville will play the second game of their double-header later Tuesday night.
