The Vanier Vikings senior boys basketball team gave the visiting Peacock Toilers all they could handle Thursday and put up the biggest fight against the green and orange first place powerhouses that anyone has this season in the Moose Jaw High School basketball regular season.
The Toilers (9-0) won 82-70 but were trailing at the half 36-32 and had a great deal of difficulty dealing with the Vikings 2-2-1 zone press. Toilers head coach Bryan Adams went with a smaller lineup later in the game to break the press.
Payton Hillsdon had 22 and Mark Bevan had 15 points for the Vikes (3-6), while Kale Lewchak and Adam Bachiu each had 20 for the Toilers.
