The Peacock Toilers survived a second half surge by the Caronport Cougars to win their Moose Jaw high school senior girls basketball league semi-final 59-53.
The Toilers broke open a 12-12 game in the first quarter with a 12-0 run. Their lead didn’t move much over the next two quarters as the Cougars stayed to within a dozen points.
The Cougars defence held Peacock to 16 second half points and used their own outside shooting to get to within five, but could get no closer.
Jessica Williams scored 14 points to lead the Toilers who saw all 11 players record at least two points.
Elly Wendel had 25 points to lead the Cougars while Mahri Macfarlane added 14 in the loss.
The Toilers will meet the Vanier Spirits in the city final Tuesday (6:15 p.m., SIAST).
