The King George Cougars veteran-laden girls basketball team had no peer this year.
Yet it was the youngest player on the floor who led the way.
King George’s Grade 6 guard Libby Epoch scored 27 points to help lead the Cougars to a 63-49 win over the Lindale Lions in the Prairie South School Division’s Moose Jaw section elementary Tier I girls basketball.
The win capped an unbeaten league season for the Cougars who had eight Grade 8s.
“It’s a whole lot of Grade 8s going home happy tonight,” said King George coach Curt Lorge.
Paige Newans and Gabby Lorge each added 10 points for the Cougars.
Marissa Wilson led Lindale with 16 points, while Zoe Tremblay added 11 points.
