Michelle Englot’s Regina Tartan rink didn’t find a great deal of success at the Schmirler Charity Curling Classic this weekend. At least not in terms of their record.

But the team — featuring Moose Jaw’s Cindy Simmons at lead, Deanna Doig at third and Roberta Materi at second — was happy with getting some playing time in, and working on their game.

“We didn’t play that bad. It was execution on a few shots here and there,” said Simmons. “Percentage-wise, we were playing well. We just missed some of the shots that we needed to make.”

The group finished with a 2-3 record at the Regina event, falling short of qualifying for the playdowns.

But with the Olympic trials this year, the ladies are more concerned with perfecting their game than with wins and losses before it really counts.
