Amber Holland pulled off a clutch steal once, but couldn’t do it twice at the Roar of the Rings Olympic curling trials.
Holland trailed Krista McCarville 6-3 heading into the ninth end, but rallied to score twice with the hammer in the ninth end and steal one in the 10th end to force an extra end.
McCarville was able to make the hammer count in the 11th as she scored a point in 7-6 win in the tiebreak.
Holland curls out of Kronau, but represented Moose Jaw when she won the 1992 national junior title.
It was McCarville’s second tiebreak win of the day as she beat Stefanie Lawton’s Saskatoon rink 7-4.
McCarville will now meet Shannon Kleibrink in the semifinal. The winner will meet Cheryl Bernard in Saturday’s final.
