During the weekend at the Hillcrest Curling Club, curlers of all shapes, sizes and skill levels competed at the CHAB Youth Curling Bonspiel.
Some of the participants have been gliding from the hack for years, but according to club manager Leslie Glova, some were relatively new to the sport and the Youth Bonspiel was their first taste at curling tournament action.
For a few of the competitors, the weekend’s festivities were the first opportunity to get on a curling sheet this season.
“There were some kids that hadn’t been on the ice yet this year actually,” she said, “but nonetheless, all the kids came out and wanted to do a bonspiel.”
