The Bushell Park Curling Club skip and his rink of third Gray Auckland, second Karson Fritzler and lead Bryce Marcotte scored three in the ninth end on their way to a 7-4 victory over Saskatoon Sutherland’s Brent Flaman.
Flaman had stole one in the eighth to take a 4-3 lead, but Brown followed with his big end and then stole one in 10 to close out the win Sunday in Prince Albert.
Things didn’t go quite as well for Bushell Park's Shawn Meyer in his opener as he fell 10-3 to the Nutana’s Mike Armstrong.
After Meyer and his rink of third Derek McKenzie, second Chadd McKenzie and lead Derek Dejaegher scored two in the first end, Armstrong promptly replied with four in the second before adding a steal of two in the third to go up 6-2. Meyer got one back in the fourth, but a Armstrong three-ender in five and steal in six brought the game to an early end.
Brown faced Armstrong in the morning draw today before playing Assiniboia’s Kyle Batty in the afternoon. Meyer played Batty this morning and faces Kerrobert’s Josh Heidt tonight.
