Johnson rink wins Cash League finals

Ron Johnson, skip of the Moose Jaw Toyota curling rink won the Moose Jaw Ford Cash League city finals Thursday at the Hillcrest Curling Club after defeating Ralph Courtnage in a narrow 7-5 victory.

    But Johnson’s journey to the finals was rocky to say the least, almost losing in the first round to Bill Ross, who missed a hit for the win and allowed Johnson to escape.

    Johnson and his rink of third Lloyd Luhning, second Vern Fletcher and lead Ian Clothier came through in the clutch against in the finals against Courtnage as they scored five of their seven points in two crunch-time ends, the seventh and ninth.
