At the Dominion Women's Provincial Championship at the Regina Callie Curling Club, Hillcrest’s Patricia Yeske made it all the way to the finals before being upset by Darlene Gillies from Kerrobert 8-7.
Gillies had a 5-1 lead after three ends but after two in the fourth and three in the sixth, Yeske tied it up at 6-6 after six.
Both teams traded singles in the seventh and eighth, sending the game into overtime where Gillies got a single.
Yeske and her rink of Danielle Sicinski, Dorinda Nordick and Leslie Glova lead Pool A with a 3-1 round robin record, and squeezed by Carla Bartlam of Whitewood with a 7-6 win in the quarterfinals to reach the final game.
Hillcrest's Steven Slupski made it to the semifinals as well after a 4-2 round robin and like Lucas, lost by one point 6-5 to Darren Camm from Saskatoon.
Slupski scored a deuce in the seventh and was up one coming home but Camm scored two of his own for the narrow win.
After dropping his first game in the round robin to Grant Selvig from Shaunavon, Slupski won his next three before dropping the close game to Ron Lucas from the Assiniboia Curling Club.
Lucas went undefeated in the round robin of the Dominion Men’s Provincial Championship at the Regina Callie Curling Club as he and his rink of third Jay Weal, second Ian Coghill and lead Rob Greensides went a perfect 6-0.
Their only loss came in the semifinals against Terry Marteniuk from Yorkton in a tough 5-4 nailbiter.
Lucas opened the conservative looking game in the fourth with a three-ender to take lead 3-1, but Marteniuk answered right back with a triple of his own in the fifth to regain the lead at 4-3.
