Moose Jaw’s Penny Barker dropped her opening game at the SaskPower Women’s Southern Playdowns Friday in Weyburn.

Barker lost 6-2 to Deanna Doig from the Regina Tartan curling club.

Doig scored twice in the ninth end to break open a 2-2 game. She stole two more in the 10th end.

Barker’s Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre rink of third Amanda Craigie, second Danielle Sicinski and lead Tamara Haberstock will now meet Larisa Murray from the Regina Callie curling club this morning in the B event.

Chantelle Eberle, who used to curl out of Moose Jaw, won her first game 9-6 over Sherrilee Orsted to advance to the A semifinal.

Four teams will qualify from the southern playdown.
