Joel Jordison delivers a stone Wednesday at the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre.
It took an extra end, but Joel Jordison notched a pair of wins Friday and is in the A final at the SaskTel Tankard Men’s Southern playdowns in Estevan.
Jordison beat Chris Busby from the Regina Highland 6-5 in an extra end and will meet William Coutts from the Highland in the A final.
A win would qualify Jordison and his Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre rink of third Jason Ackerman, second Brent Goeres and lead Curtis Horwath for the provincial Tankard.
Jordison beat Shawn Joyce 5-3 earlier in the day. Joyce’s rink is also representing the Ford Curling Centre.
Against Busby, Jordison tied the game by scoring one with the hammer in the 10th end and then stole a point in the 11th end to advance.
Against Joyce, Jordison stole two points in the 10th end to win.
Neither team was able to count two with the hammer in a very tight game. Joyce’s steal of one in the eighth end gave him a 3-2 lead before Jordison countered with a single with the hammer in nine.
Brent Gedak’s Estevan rink of John Aston, Derek Owens and Malcolm Vanstone lost to Scott Virtue in the A event Friday. Gedak was down a point with the hammer coming home, but wasn’t able to make his final shot and gave up a steal of one.
Gedak will now play Mark Walter from Lampman in the B event Saturday morning.
Assiniboia’s Jason Weal lost 9-6 to Mark Walter in the B event Friday morning. A three-ender by Walter in the eighth end broke a 6-6 tie.
Weal will play Wade Sydorko in the early draw Saturday in the C event.
Four teams will qualify for the SaskTel Men’s Tankard in Melfort.
