The local Dominion curling playdowns were marked by a comeback and one near-comeback.
In the women’s event Elaine Osmachenko’s rink of Tina Hill, Lorraine Arguin and Rebecca Venn lost their first game of their best-of-three final to Roberta Fonger, but rallied to win the final two games.
After a comfortable win Saturday night, Osmachenko scored a 7-4 win to claim the local Dominion title.
The three men’s team had a round robin to determine the two finalists.
Ryan Wenarchuk’s rink of Greg Wells, Brian Mohns and Tim Best beat Wade Gray 5-4 in the final.
Wenarchuk scored a point in each of the first four ends to take a 4-0 lead. Gray got on the board in the fifth, stole a point in the sixth and stole two more in the seventh end to tie the game.
Wenarchuk made his final shot to earn his single in the eighth end and win.
Both rinks will advance to the Dominion regional playdowns Feb. 15-17 in Central Butte.
The Dominion club championships are designed to crown the top local club curlers who don’t participate in elite-level competitions.
