James Barkway and his Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre rink of third Jonathon Wells, second Carson Ackerman and lead Colton Brown are off to a winning start at the Provincial Juvenile Men’s Curling Championships in Shaunavon.

Barkway’s rink opened with a 9-1 win over Jayden Ellwood, before losing 5-4 loss to Logan Wild in an extra end Friday morning in the A event.

Wild stole a point in the extra end to win.

In the B event, Barkway beat Assiniboia’s Lucas Richards 6-4 to advance to the B event semifinal at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Barkway scored three points in the first end and stole two more to take a commanding early lead.

The final is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
