Now that the fine weather has arrived there's lots of things to enjoy. Unfortunately, it also brings out some negative aspects.
Warm weather brings more people out of their homes - there's more pedestrians and vehicles on the city's streets.
As well, for one reason or another, good weather seems to embolden certain drivers because the risks that come with poor weather are gone. And these drivers may drive faster, take turns sharper, make riskier manoeuvres and just, plain, not pay attention. Good weather can also lead pedestrians, when they step on to pavement, to pay less attention as well, for various reasons.
Inattention by drivers and pedestrians can lead to problems similar to the ones we saw in Moose Jaw on Wednesday with the flipping of a motorcycle, a two-vehicle collision and a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Hopefully, Moose Jaw's drivers and pedestrians will make sure to avoid risky manoeuvres and pay the road the attention they would give it in the winter to ensure we don't have repeats of days like Wednesday.
