The Moose Jaw Miller Express have seen this song and dance a few too many times this Western Major Baseball League season - and it's anything but entertaining.
After scoring a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the St. Albert Prospects 6-6, the Express gave up one in the seventh and another two in the eighth to drop a 9-6 decision.
Now, for a team with a 4-12 record, it could almost be considered a morale victory to play a team that close after spending eight hours on the bus prior to the game.
But when you have the bases loaded with none out twice and only come away with a pair of runs to show for it - and your opponent rallies to win the game immediately after the second chance - well, that's more than a little frustrating. And especially when that kind of thing has pretty much been the norm for the Express much of the season.
"That's the thing, even tonight we didn't play our best, we made some mistakes but we were still good enough to win," Express coach Justin Fuhler said from Edmonton shortly after Wednesday's contest.
