Like the rest of the Grade 12’s for the Vanier Vikings, cornerback Chris Sanford has never had the pleasure of beating victorious over the Peacock Tornadoes in his high school football career.

Needless to say, Sanford and the rest of his Vikings teammates could not hide their  enthusiasm as they flamboyantly celebrated the 22-0 win Thursday at Gutheridge Field over the Tornadoes, who have won the past two straight city titles.

“I’ve been here for four years and we’ve never even been close to beating Peacock,” said Sanford. “To shut them out today is huge for our team.”

Although the Vikings were rosy-cheeked and fatigued after the game, they still had enough adrenaline leftover to celebrate the big win and chanted their team moniker as they left the Gutheridge Field parking lot in their school’s bus.

The Central Cyclones also beat the Estevan Elecs Thursday on the road 15-10
