If life is a highway, then Ken Bradley beat rocker Tom Cochrane all day long.
Bradley's 1-under par 73 puts the Moose Jaw man in a tie for ninth at the Canadian Senior Nationals and one stroke ahead of the former Red Rider frontman. Moose Jaw's Doug Gillies finished his first day of the four-day tournament at 13-over par.
Bradley is four strokes behind co-leaders James Graham and Graham Cooke
"I'm feeling very good. I played really well today considering I didn't know the course that well," Bradley said. "I hit the ball right on the number most of the day today."
The wind blew hard, but Bradley did a good job of not making mistakes, keeping the ball down and putting very well. His day started off with a birdie on the 10th hole, as half of the field started on the back nine and the rest went to the front nine.
"I just about hit the ball in the hazard," Bradley said. "I was about two feet from hitting the ball in the hazard, hit the second shot right on the number and then I knocked a 15-foot (putt) uphill."
"That really got me going. I hit eight out of nine greens on the first nine."
