You can't play the Canadian Senior Men's Nationals golf tournament in a fog, as two Moose Jaw men found out first-hand.
Fog envoloped the Sault Ste Marie Golf Course for the tournament, but once it cleared, Bradley fired a 78 to finish his first two days at seven-over -par. While 78 is a very good score, Bradley's 73 on Tuesday was just a bit better.
"(Tuesday) the putts went in the hole and (Wednesday) they didn't. That was the only difference," said Bradley. "I hit 14 out of 18 greens and had five three-putts. If I make the putts, I'm right where I was (Tuesday).
"That's just one of those things. From one day to the next, sometimes you make them and sometimes you don't."
Bradley was happy with the way he hit the ball, even with a faux-pas on 15. He mis-hit a tee shot, hit the second ball into the trees and ended up taking a double bogey. It was part of a slump at the end where he had three three-putts in the last five holes.
"After 12 holes I was two over par and then the last six holes, I was four over," Bradley said. "I just didn't quite finish today. That was the difference."
The morning round had a fog delay, causing a number of the players who were on the course difficulties as they were in the middle of holes. Doug Gillies' tee time was half an hour earlier than Bradley's.
"Doug was the lead-off and he was just outside the first green when he went to stop and Percy (Murray, Saskatchewan teammate) was just about ready to get on the tee and all of a sudden, he had to wait," said Bradley. "I was ten or 15 minutes behind that so we weren't quite psyched and ready to go."
With a disappointing 85, Gillies encountered much the same day Wednesday as he did Tuesday, double-bogeying three of four holes in a stretch on the front nine.
In the provincial competition, the Saskatchewan team finished in sixth place overall with a score of 30 over par.
Bradley comfortably made the cut and now turns the focus to being as competitive as he can in a fairly tough field.
"I'm very pleased with how I've played these last few days," said Bradley. "I think mainly I just want to play well for the next two days. Catching Graham Cooke who is seven under after two days is sort of out of the question. He is unbelievable. Now, I get a chance to play with some of the better golfers in Canada and see if I can't hold my own."
