Athletes from Central and Peacock have had many battles over the past few decades from the gymnasiums to the athletic fields and football grounds.
But the battle waged at the Hillcrest Golf and Country Club golf course for the Moose Jaw District High School team crown was one of the closest ones ever, with Central winning by one stroke in a playoff.
After the teams were tied at 373 each, organizers had to check the rulebooks to determine what would happen. The teams ended up playing a sudden-death playoff on the eighth hole - with the top boy, top girl and top two others counting their scores.
The difference was still only one stroke.
In the individual competition Vanier's Paul Plosz had the day's top score for the boys with a 73, and Peacock's Siera Bearchell recorded a 116 to claim the girls' individual crown.
"Paul and I had a good battle," said Central's Matt Schoenroth, who fired a 76 to lead the Central team. "We were tied going into the last hole and my ball hit a tree and I lost it. It was back and forth."
