The Rotary Club of Moose Jaw met Monday at the Heritage Inn. At the conclusion of lunch Club President Ron Cork introduced Jessie Garino, a past Rotary exchange student from Buenos Aires, Argentina and the club's current exchange student, Annie Werenbro from Sweden.
In club business Reg Williamson reminded all members of the upcoming breakfast for participants of the July 1 relay as it takes 14 members to serve the meal to participants and to date only six have volunteered.
Members were reminded of the upcoming induction of new club officers and executive to be held July 6, followed by the annual golf tournament.
Members were informed of the death of club member Bob Wilkinson's wife, Isabelle.
Don Jones reported that to date no local area students have applied to the club for participation in the RYLA program and as such the club's future commitment to the initiative needs to be reviewed.
At the conclusion of business, Annie Werenbro provided a presentation on some of highlights of her almost year long stay with various members of the club.
At the conclusion of her talk she was presented with a gift from the club as a memento of her stay. She thanked the club for a wonderful year.
The meeting drew to a close with a reminder that one new executive position still needs to be filled, that of president-elect for the 2010-11 Rotary year. Any member interested is asked to contact incoming President Ed Bourassa.
The club meets Mondays at noon at the Heritage Inn.
Lioness Club
The final meeting of the season for the Moose Jaw Lioness Club was held June 11 at Wakamow Lodge.
Donations during the year were approved as follows: Sight and Service, Times-Herald Christmas stocking fund, World Vision, Lions CNIB charity golf classic, Moose Jaw Health Foundation, Lions Eye Bank of Saskatchewan, Lions Guide Dogs and Lions Cavalcade for Diabetes.
Lioness members served at the White Cane banquets and provided lunch following the White Cane meetings.
Thirty-four fruit baskets were purchased for the Lions White Cane Christmas party and 15 dozen doughnuts were donated for the February blood donor clinic.
Lioness meetings are held the third Thursday of the month at noon at Bonanza. Information about the club is available by calling 694-1402.
Enterprise region
The launch of the new South Central Enterprise Region and the announcement of its chief executive officer will take place Monday at 2 p.m. at the Heritage Inn.
Present for the program will be Ken Cheveldayoff, minister of Enterprise Saskatchewan and Trade, and minister responsible for SaskEnergy.
Crafters Guild
Members of the Moose Jaw Crafters Guild will have their sales tables open July 2-4 during business hours at the Moose Jaw Town 'n' Country Mall.
