Lorie Boyle is the Moose Jaw women's city golf champion. Again.
But despite winning her 22nd title in 23 years Wednesday, Boyle was disappointed in her play.
"I'm not so proud of it (because of) my score," she said. "I come out here with a goal. And if I don't hit my goal, I'm upset."
Shooting a one-over 76 Tuesday and a 79 on Wednesday was enough for Boyle to take yet another city title. Joanne Wilk finished as the runner-up for the second year in a row with a two-day score of 178.
The weather was perfect for the event, though Boyle felt her game should have been better under the circumstances.
"It should have been a good game today, that's what's frustrating about it. There's no wind to contend with," she said. "Yesterday it was fine. I hit the ball very well. Five over par was fine. Today, I was in a lot of trouble. I had to punch three shots out of trees, which is fine. (But) my short game isn't there. I didn't work a heck of a lot on it this year, and it shows."
The season has been a short one for Boyle. After breaking her ankle in the winter, she had to work hard in physiotherapy to get back into playing form. But just when she was ready to get out and start swinging, Mother Nature refused to cooperate.
