Moose Jaw teams got off to an outstanding start through the first round of the Saskatchewan Golf Association's Women's Rosebowl championship at the Lynbrook Golf and Country Club.
And it turns out home course was most definitely an advantage.
The Lynbrook team of Debbie Firth and Sharon Knittel came in at 14-under par through the opening day of the best ball net score tournament. Their round included three eagles and eight birdies, including a stretch over the final four holes where they went six-under.
Dianne Breton and Kathleen Martell - also of the Lynbrook - sit a stroke back at 13-under after racking up four eagles and six birdies through their round. They led by two strokes through the first nine holes after shooting a 29, but a bogey on the par-four 11th proved costly.
