With the first day of the senior men's golf championship at the Hillcrest in the books, Daryl Herchuk leads the 0-9 handicap flight with a 72 score.
Ken Bradley is nipping at his heels, though, with a 74 and he expects that the close competition between them will continue.
"We'll have a battle (Wednesday)," said Bradley. "Daryl and I have been close all year and there's no reason why it won't be that way again tomorrow."
Bradley wasn't unhappy with his overall game Wednesday, but - like any golfer - he did find some particular areas to be displeased with.
"I played a little scrambly today," he said. "I managed to play pretty well but I made a bad shot on 16 and took a 7. But I made a comeback and made birdie-eagle on the last two holes."
Otto Kempel leads the 10-16 flight with a score of 80, while Frank Abdou is in second with 83. Lloyd Thiele (87) is the front-runner in the 17-23 pack with Ray Zerff (90) behind him. Art Magnaye (95) is on top of the 23+ group with Gerry Mont (96) not far behind.
