Ken Bradley has had better days on the golf course, but he can't complain about his standing at the senior men's golf championship.
The Hillcrest Sports Centre golfer shot an opening-round 78 Tuesday at the Royal Canadian Golf Association's men's senior championship at the Gorge Vale Golf Club in Victoria.
That six-over leaves him tied for 58th place, which has him well-positioned to make the cut to the top-70 and ties after today's second round.
"I'm inside the cut line now, but that just means you have to play better to make sure you make the cut," said Bradley. "Making the cut is always the goal. Hopefully I can putt a little better and continue to hit the ball as well as I did.
"I still had a four-putt and three three-putts for a 78, so there's still room for improvement."
The greens have been quick all week and that didn't change Tuesday.
Bradley had some struggles in his two practice rounds - when he shot 82 twice - and was pleased to get his game back on track.
"I certainly played better than I played the practice rounds," said Bradley. "I hit the ball a lot better and as a result scored a lot better today."
