Daryl Herchuk had an impressive golfing resume.
The local golfer has been on the provincial team, attended a senior nationals and won the Hillcrest club title.
The only thing missing was a Men’s City Amateur golf title.
That changed Sunday.
Herchuk shot final round 69 at the Hillcrest to go with the 71 he shot Saturday at the Lynbrook to claim the two-day event. The two round 140 gave him a four-shot win over Trevor Benson and Ken Bradley.
“This is great,” said Herchuk. “I’ve got this right at the top.”
Bradley shot a second round 71 and Benson shot a 70 as both made a strong late charge. Benson officially finished second on retrogression. Neither golfer were in the final foursome.
Bill Ross shot an opening round 70 to take the lead, but shot a 75 Sunday to finish fourth. Keith Dutchak (71-75 — 146) was fifth.
Rob Auckland won the first flight, while Mike Friebe won the second flight, Fred Collins won the third flight and Bob Turnbull won the fourth flight.
