After losing seven straight, the Moose Jaw Warriors have found a way to win close games in the last two weeks.
Now they would like to turn their strong performances into comfortable wins.
The Warriors needed overtime Sunday to beat the Edmonton Oil Kings 3-2 and beat the Prince Albert Raiders 4-2 to earn four points on the road. The 13-9-4-2 Warriors have points in their last six games.
"We're creating a ton right now," said Warriors head coach Dave Hunchak. "Both games we've had chances through two periods to put both of those teams away. For whatever reason we just can't finish right now. We need to develop that killer instinct.
"We'll continue to work at that, but certainly I'm happy with getting the four points on the road as we viewed this as a critical weekend."
The Warriors sit in the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 32 points. They distanced themselves from their nearest challengers - Edmonton and Prince Albert - who have 27 and 24 points respectively.
"I'm happy with how we're competing. We're getting contributions from every line right now," said Hunchak. "We're not getting contributions on the game sheet, but . . . (by) being physical and grinding teams down.
"The way we want to play is starting to reward us by winning these close games and being on the right side of the 3-2s or 4-2s."
Warriors 3 Oil Kings 2 (OT)
Jordan Knackstedt beat his defenceman and cut in front from the red line to beat Alex Archibald five-hole for the game-winner 3:23 into overtime.
The Warriors were excellent through two periods as Martin Filo and Frazer McLaren staked them to a 2-0 lead.
The Oil Kings rallied in the third as Craig McCallum and Tomas Vincour equalized.
Despite blowing a lead, Hunchak was pleased with the way his team played defensively all weekend.
"We allowed one five-on-five goal all weekend and if you ask Joe I think he'd want them both back (Sunday). They're not indicative of how Joey Perricone is capable of playing," said Hunchak.
Perricone finished the night with 34 saves including a big stop on a second period penalty shot by Brent Hentke.
Warriors 4 Raiders 2
The Warriors' three power-play goals trumped the Raiders' two in the victory.
Joel Broda, Jason Bast and McLaren scored with the man-advantage and Riley Holzapfel scored his 10th into an empty net. Jordan Knackstedt and Ryan Stanton each added two assists.
Ryan DePape and Brandon Herrod replied for the Raiders who came back from 2-0 down.
