The Briercrest Clippers secured a weekend split to stay within a game of the post-season in the Alberta College Athletic Conference men’s hockey league.

The Clippers lost 9-4 Friday to the Portage College Voyageurs before beating them 5-3 Saturday.

The Clippers are 2-11 in ACAC play, but remain two points out of sixth place and a playoff spot.

The Clippers will host Concordia (9-4-0-1) Friday and Saturday.

It is good to see that in certain games the Clippers can hold their own. The problem lies in that the Clippers have been in this league for more than 15 years and this opponent has been in this league for less than 3 years. I think that part of the problem with the Clippers is that they have no local midget team or talent base to draw some of their talent from. Don't get me wrong, They don't play in this league because they ever expect they will win the championship, they only play here because they feel they have a positive influence on the rest of the league.
