KELOWNA, B.C. - Moose Jaw Warriors defenceman Travis Hamonic and forward Quinton Howden each picked up an assist as the Western Hockey League all-stars downed the Russian Selects 4-2 on Thursday night in the sixth and final game of the Super Series.
The Tribe duo both drew helpers on the WHL's first goal in the second period, setting up Saskatoon Blades forward Stefan Elliott with a power play marker 2:42 into the frame.
Kelowna's Brandon McMillan scored the game-winner on the power play midway through the second to give the three Canadian Hockey League all-star teams a sweep of the six games.
Medicine Hat's Linden Vey and Red Deer's Willie Coetzee, with an insurance goal late in the third period, also scored for the WHL, which also beat Russia 2-1 in Victoria on Wednesday.
Maxim Gorechishnikov, with the lone goal of the first period, and Maxim Kitsyn, with his fourth goal of the series in the third, replied for Russia.
The result flattered Russia for second night in a row, thanks in large part to goalie Igor Bobkov, who made 35 saves.
The 19-year-old Moscow Dynamo netminder was coming off a 40-save performance in Wednesday's loss.
Calgary Hitmen goaltender Martin Jones had an easy night in the WHL net, turning aside 16 shots.
