The Moose Jaw AAA Warriors stifling defence carried them to the tournament title at the Richmond International Midget Hockey Tournament.
The Warriors posted their third shutout in four games as they blanked the Valley West Hawks of the BC Major Midget League 4-0 in the Elite final.
Matt Gibney earned the shutout in goal, while Derrick Pouliot scored two goals in five seconds for the Warriors. Austin Daae opened the scoring in the second period and added an assist. Austin Yano had the Warriors’ other goal while Zane Weal added a pair of assists.
Daae finished the tournament with 13 points and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
Pouliot, the first pick in last year’s Western Hockey League draft, has been called up by the Portland Winter Hawks for a week.
